SPOTLIGHT: Horticap set up popular delivery service during lockdown
01 July 2020
Horticap provides a vibrant place of work for up to 60 students for over 35 years. Student are all adults with learning disabilities and attend Horticap to train in (or learn about) horticulture. Operations Manager, Phil, has told us how Covid - 19 has impacted them:
Horticap has been so busy over the last few weeks of lockdown. We opened an online delivery service and it went crazy. It took 3 vans 5 days a week to over 600 houses to complete. This made sure that the plants that our wonderful students had potted up and cared for got good homes. This has helped gap the shortfall that we have faced.
We will lose money this year just like all charities and businesses but with the support from our customers and community has been amazing. We look forward to the future and the completion of our new shop and cafe and gardens.
